Fr. Tim Lozier:
Hi, I’m Father Tim Lozier. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I attended Catholic schools through high school. I got a bachelors degree in English Literature from the University of California at Berkeley in 1975 and a Masters in Library Science from the same school in 1976.
I worked at the University of Florida in Gainesville (Go Gators!) from 1976-1983 as a Catalog Librarian. I became very active at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church and Student Center and after much thought and prayer decided that God was calling me to be a priest. After one year at St. Meinrad’s in Indiana and four years at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach, Florida, I was ordained a priest on May 7 th, 1988 right here at the Cathedral. (And I should mention that part of my training included ten weeks here at the Cathedral in the summer of 1985 as a seminarian.)
My first parish assignment was to San Jose Parish in Jacksonville, which I loved. In September of 1991 I was moved to St. Augustine’s in Gainesville, which I also loved, and I became pastor here at the Cathedral on July 1 st, 2005, and I’m loving it here, too.
On a more personal note, I enjoy spending time with my friends, reading (both theology and literature) (and Harry Potter is literature), the care and feeding of my computer, and working out. Well, maybe I don’t enjoy working out, but I do enjoy having worked out. I also like listening to NPR and the Grateful Dead. And I love being a priest. Thanks be to God! Email Fr. Deacon John H. Pelletier Jr.
Born and raised on Long Island, New York. After my return from service in the U. S. Navy during the Korean era I worked in the Aerospace industry for several years as a design draftsmen. Before leaving Long Island for Connecticut I married Helen Marie Wrann on July 5, 1958 and commenced raising a family of eight children. We moved from Connecticut to Underhill, Vermont in 1965 and took up residence in a home that was built in 1808. This was a twenty-year love affair in restoring the old homestead to a new life. I left the design arena and became a life and health insurance salesman with the New York Life Ins. Co in 1967. After fifteen and a half years I left the New York Life for Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Having had a successful three years of sales and management in VT the company transferred me to the Jacksonville, FL. headquarters and our family settled in to St. Augustine, FL. I retired from the Blue's on July 1, 1999
Throughout my life I have been an involved Catholic man, leading to Lector, Reader, Parish Council, CCD teacher and to the Diaconate. I was ordained through the Diocese of Burlington VT on November 1, 1981 having studied on the campus of St. Michael's College, Colchester, VT, under the direction of the Edmundite Fathers and Brothers. As a Deacon in the Diocese of St. Augustine I served for three years at San Sebastian Parish and since at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine.
