Simple Soup Dinner the Fridays of Lent:
Fridays are a traditional day of fasting, abstinence and penance in the Church. This year we invite you to enter into the spirit of fasting by joining us each Friday of Lent beginning at 5:30 p.m. for a simple supper of soup and bread. We’ll gather at the Bishop Baker Center. On Friday, February 19, members of the Legion of Mary will be providing the soup.

Evening Prayer and Benediction:
We will celebrate Evening Prayer along with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament on the Fridays of Lent beginning February 19 at 4:30 p.m. at the Prince of Peace Votive Church (101 San Marco Avenue).

Stations of the Cross:
The traditional Lenten devotion, the Stations (Way) of the Cross, will be held on the Fridays of Lent at 7 p.m. in the Cathedral.

Church regulations for Fasting andAbstinence during Lent
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fasting. Catholics between the ages of 18 and 59 are permitted one full meal and two lesser meals per day (which together should not equal one full meal), with no eating between meals.
Ash Wednesday and all Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence. Catholics who are 14 years or older should abstain from meat (beast or fowl) entirely. Soups and gravies made from meat stocks are permitted.
